A partner at the firm and head of the Civil Liberties Department and Police Action Team. Jules qualified as a solicitor in 1996 and joined Tuckers in 2001. He specialises in complex claims for false imprisonment, assault, malicious prosecution, discrimination, deaths in custody, and judicial review. He has considerable experience in challenging over-zealous anti-terror sanctions/ operations and obtaining compensation for those affected.
Jules is consistently ranked in both the Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners legal directories as a leading individual in both Civil Liberties and Police Law.
In 2010 Jules received the JUSTICE 'Human Rights Lawyer of the Year' award “for unflagging energy and enthusiasm in demonstrating all the best qualities of a solicitor dedicated to innovative and difficult work in defence of civil liberties”.
Jules was also shortlisted in 2010 for the Liberty 'Human Rights Lawyer of the Year' Award and the Law Society’s Excellence Award in the category of ‘Solicitor of the Year – Private Practice’. He as again shortlisted by the Law Society for ‘Solicitor of the Year – Private Practice’ in 2011, and was awarded a commendation. The Law Society shortlisting described Jules in the following terms:

Jules is regularly consulted by the media on issues relating to civil liberties and police law and he has provided professional training on behalf of the College of Law, Sweet & Maxwell and LexisNexis.

Inquest into the Death of Ian Tomlinson
Representation of the family of Ian Tomlinson at the inquest into Mr Tomlinson’s death. Mr Tomlinson was on his way home from work in the City of London when he was struck and pushed over by a police officer on 1 April 2009 during the G20 protests. The inquest jury returned a verdict of unlawful killing.
