James qualified as a Solicitor in 1997, before going on to obtain the Higher Rights qualification. He joined us in 2000, before becoming a Partner in 2005.
James is a Duty Solicitor, representing clients at the Police Station and Court. He represents clients at all stages of a criminal case, from attending the client and providing advice at the police station, through to providing representation and advice throughout the court process. James supervises the Crown Court department at the Birmingham office.
He is a 'Peer Reviewer' for the Legal Services Commission, which involves carrying out assessment of the quality of work completed by other firms of Solicitors. He is also a 'Training Principal' for Trainee Solicitors and Probationary Accredited Representatives for the Birmingham branch office.
James is a member of the Birmingham Law Society Criminal Law Sub Committee and the Criminal Law Solicitors Association. He also acts as a mentor for the Birmingham College of Law.
Outside of his work with us, James provides advice to Researchers in the drama departments of the BBC and ITV regarding matters relating to criminal law.
James's hobbies and interests include motorbikes, shooting and poker.
