Hunter qualified in 1991 and has been involved in criminal advocacy ever since. He obtained Higher Rights of Audience in 2002 and has worked exclusively as a Crown Court advocate since then.

Hunter has been instructed in serious matters including murder, rape, s.18 wounding, robbery, arson and firearm offences. He has also been led in several murder cases. He conducts all aspects of Crown Court advocacy inlcuding trials and sentencing hearings. He has successfully argued for cases to be dismissed as an abuse of process where serious procedural errors have been uncovered.

Hunter has appeared at the Court of Appeal in London on numerous occasions, including a succssful appeal against the imposition of a sentence of imprisonment for public protection (IPP). He receives regular instructions in cases relating to intellectual property fraud, Trading Standards prosecutions and Health and Safety matters.
