Arvind qualified as a solicitor in 1998 and for the next 4 years worked for the Criminal Cases Review Commission. This involved investigating and reviewing alleged miscarriages of justice concerning mainly the most serious offences. He then worked for the Treasury Solicitors' Department as a legal adviser to the Ministry of Defence in Commercial Law, before joining us in 2005.
Arvind undertakes a large number of Magistrates' and Youth Court hearings, from first appearance through to trial and sentence. He is an experienced trial advocate and has represented clients in cases involving complex points of law (such as those with arise in ASBO cases and in road traffic matters) and in lengthy multi-defendant trials entailing the consideration of large amounts of prosecution and defence evidence, including expert evidence. He also acts for clients in the police station.
Cases dealt with by Arvind to date include the most serious such as rape, kidnapping, robbery and firearms offences.
Arvind has qualified as a duty solicitor and acts as a mentor to students at the Birmingham College of Law.
